Majority of online purchases are done through mobile, which is why mobile commerce is a very important aspect of e-commerce today. Because many e-commerce merchants are used to the internet marketing tactics of the past, many make mistakes when trying to expand to mobile commerce.
Here are 3 common mobile commerce mistakes you might be making:
1. Taking your time
Not to pressure you or anything but mobile commerce is getting huge pretty fast. You wouldn’t want your brand, products and/or services to fall behind because you put off optimizing for mobile. It’s understandable if you can’t quite grasp yet where m-commerce fits into your internet marketing – almost half of the companies believe this to be true.
However, this is not a reason to delay mobile optimization. It is a given that there are still buyers who purchase through your website or in the physical store, but it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t consider a big market that opts to shop online. In fact, your traditional buyers may even comprise of your loyal customers who are just waiting for you to make the update. You can’t tell when their last purchase will be before they find a competitor selling on mobile.
2. Thinking it’s only for young people
There is some logic into thinking only young shoppers opt for mobile commerce, but you can’t be more wrong. Statistics show that about 1 quarter of mobile shoppers are over the age of 55 – that’s 25% of your shoppers hitting seniority.
3. Mobile commerce is e-Commerce
m-Commerce may fall under e-commerce but they are not at all the same thing. Making sure your website is mobile-friendly means considering the way mobile shoppers navigate through your website, how it functions when viewed on different devices, payment options, presentation of products and information, and more. This should all be taken as a separate account in order to provide your customers with a better mobile shopping experience.
