Creating a Facebook Cover That Really Stands Out

Sometimes it is the simplest of things that play a part in creating a flawless saturated internet presence. One example of this would be choosing a great Facebook Cover image for your Facebook Page. It is a task that seems like it should be pretty easy, but it can be challenging to choose the appropriate image to represent your brand best. You only get one image to make that first impression, so it is a fundamental element of your saturated internet presence.

Choosing the Right Dimensions

The optimal size for a Facebook Page cover is 820 pixels wide by 462 pixels tall. However, the image is going to display differently on various devices. For a fully saturated internet presence you need to make sure your Page looks good on all browsers, so you do need to keep this in mind. Although the suggested size in 820 by 462 you will want to be at least aware of the following sizes when designing a cover photo:

  • On a desktop, your Cover image displays at 820 by 312 pixels
  • Smartphones will display the image 640 by 360 pixels
  • The minimum size for a Cover image is 399 by 150 tall

To get the most from your cover image for your entire saturated internet presence you need to create an image that will display nicely in both formats.

Video Covers Are Also Available

A recently added feature is the ability to use a video cover rather than a static image. Video covers are proving to be an attractive option since it allows businesses to showcase a little more of their brand than just a single photo. Video covers should be 820 pixels wide by 312 pixels tall and between 20 and 90 seconds in length.

Creating Your Cover Photo

In theory, you can use any photograph or even a stock image as your Facebook Cover. However, knowing what a vital role it has to play in your saturated internet presence, it is better to put a little bit more thought and effort into creating it.

You want your Cover to represent you and your brand effectively, so look at your photographs carefully and decide if any of them can do that for you. We mentioned the possibility of using stock images, but if you do choose to go down that route, we would advise that you do a little editing to make it more personal to your business. If you don’t have access to editing software like Photoshop you can take advantage of free online picture editors like PabloCanva or PicMokey. Just remember that your final image is going to display differently on mobile, so if you are adding text make sure it won’t be cut off in either screen size.

Getting the Most from Your Cover Photo

Your cover photo is an excellent way to maximize your saturated internet presence. Did you know that changing your cover is the only update that is pushed out to all of your Facebook followers regardless of the Facebook algorithm? That makes it the perfect way to promote a campaign or inform people of a particular offer. Think outside the box and don’t be afraid to change your cover regularly.
